[SSL] How will my customers know that my site is secure?

Your sites patrons will know your site is secure by the HTTPS:// prefix before your sites URL in the browsers navigation bar as well as the appearance of the padlock icon in the lower right or left corner of most browsers. Both of these signs will only appear once the patron has entered a secure area of the site, usually after the advent of their logging in or when they enter the payment gateway.
