[General Ecommerce] What do I need to set up an ecommerce website?
What your site will need depends on the framework of your business. If your business model calls for accommodation of credit card transactions and a fully featured online shopping cart, your main concerns will be choosing an eCommerce application such as Cart32 or OSCommerce to handle real-time transactions, an SSL (Secure Socket Layer) Certificate to ensure that your payment gateway is secured, and finally an internet-enabled merchant account. However, if you will not need to process credit transactions then you will simply need to be concerned about having a website with a working e-mail form for orders and your businesss address so customers know where to send their payments.
